One of four people seriously injured in a car crash last week has died.
The Stark County Post of the State Highway Patrol on Saturday said 28-year-old Gaspar Cedillo Lopez of New Philadelphia was pronounced dead at Aultman Hospital following a Thursday afternoon crash on U.S. 250 in southern Stark County. Lopez was the front seat passenger in a Toyota RAV4 that went left of center and struck a GMC Sierra head-on. He had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department. Three other occupants of the RAV4 were ejected and seriously injured.
No injury updates or identifications have been provided, and the State Highway Patrol last said the crash is still under investigation. The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 31-year-old Michigan man, sustained minor injuries.
An obituary says Lopez was born in Guatemala and is survived by his parents and a daughter. A service is scheduled for Sunday, and burial will take place in Guatemala.
