Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a fatal crash Tuesday evening on Midvale Mine Road.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 7:40 p.m. Investigators say 64-year-old Jeffrey Cottrell of Dennison was driving a Ford F-150 when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a post and a tree.
Cottrell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Troopers say alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor and noted that Cottrell was not wearing a seat belt.
