Nick McWilliams reporting – Three city of New Philadelphia employees received special recognition on Monday.
The three workers, Kyle Doran, Ray Morrow, and Brody Barbee, work in the sanitation department for the city, and were given commendation for their actions May 19th this year.
During the recognition at council, Mayor Joel Day said that the group helped out a city resident while on their refuse route with moving yard waste to the curb for pickup.
“They proceeded to stop the truck, and all three employees helped the gentleman, who happened to be former Mayor Greg Erb, carry the remainder of the trash and load it onto the truck. When he thanked them for their help, Mr. Erb was told, ‘We don’t mind. You matter.’ And that’s the kind of attitude that we have among our city employees in serving the public.”
Day said that he appreciated that the workers went the extra mile for Erb, and that he believes they would do it for any city resident.
All three were given letters of commendation, with council also expressing their appreciation.
