New Philadelphia City leaders are conducting business with heavy hearts following the unexpected death of longtime Safety Director Greg Popham.
Council President Don Kemp started off Monday’s council meeting with the announcement of Popham passing away suddenly that afternoon.
Council member Steve Rippeth led the chamber in prayer.
“I just pray that you’ll guide us all to do as greatly, to dedicate ourselves to serving and taking care of others. Father, we’re sadden by his loss, but we celebrate that he’s now in your presence.”
Service Director Ron McAbier began his report noting how Popham was a great person. Law Director Marvin Fete told council that since he was a kid, he looked up to Popham when he used to patrol Tuscora Park as a police officer.
Meanwhile, the Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society shared that longtime fair member and board president Robert “Reb” Billman had passed away on Monday.
