Historic Zoar Village held a tree dedication ceremony to celebrate the new tree replacing the Tree of Everlasting Life.
In March 2023, the over 90-year-old tree was severely damaged in a windstorm. Following high community support and donations, the tree was able to be replaced in November.
A preserved cross section of the tree was made by Steve Zucal.
“Steve said “Hey, I want to do something with that wood because I was married underneath the tree.” He made a very interesting piece of art here that we’ll have for a long, long time.”
Multiple speakers told the story of the beginning of the Zoar Community Gardens and guests reminisced about memories involving the old tree.
The Zoar Garden, where the new tree stands, represents the Separatist’s most public manifestation of their faith.
