~ The Tuscarawas County Commissioner’s issued a notice of a paid leave. They Board placed David Haverfield, the Director of the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services Office, on administrative paid leave. No reason was listed and no further information or comment was provided.
~ The Tuscarawas County YMCA held a recent election for their board members, who are voted in for a three year term beginning in September.
Fran Brogan of Dover, Perci Garner III of Dover, and Amy Smith of Canton were re-elected to second terms. Jeff Bray of New Philadelphia, Scott Heil of New Philadelphia and Pete Kandis of Magnolia were all elected to a first term.
The Tuscarawas County YMCA Board of Directors is made of up YMCA members and community leaders who work to support the Y’s mission of enriching the lives of everyone in the community.
~ In a move towards sustainable and equitable use of natural resources, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) has announced a policy shift regarding duck blinds. A release noted that effective, at the end of August, the use of seasonal duck blinds will no longer be permitted, and only daily-use duck blinds will be allowed.
The goal is to reduce the environmental impact of permanent structures while ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to enjoy MWCD wetlands and waterfowl hunting. For further information about hunting on MWCD property, go online to www.mwcd.org/hunting.
