~ A local funeral home is raising awareness regarding a recent scam they were notified of. A scammer is targeting families in Ohio and other states who recently lost a loved one. The con artist gets names from obituaries and calls the family, pretending to be a funeral home employee. According to Toland-Herzig, the caller then tells the family that there was a processing error for funeral service and request a credit card number for payment. For the local funeral home, they note that they will never call a family to request a payment via the phone.
