~ Families currently receiving WIC benefits may be eligible for $30 in coupons to spend on fruits and vegetables at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market. Staff will distribute the vouchers at the Wednesday market on July 19th and the 26th from 3:00-6:00pm. This is a first come, first serve, one time coupon pick up. The market is located at the Tuscarawas County Fair Grounds, in Dover.
~ Forester Katie Downie will talk about the Women Owning Woodlands (WOW) organization at the East Central Ohio Forestry Association (ECOFA) meeting Wednesday, Aug. 2nd, at 7pm. The no cost discussion will be at the Dover Public Library. A significant portion of Ohio’s forestland is owned by women and WOW’s mission is to provide accurate information tailored to women who manage their own woodlands and all who facilitate the stewardship of forests.
~ The first Farmer’s Market, in New Philadelphia, will be held Tuesday. The weekly event runs from 8am to 11am through August 30th. The market will be located in the main parking lot of Tuscora Park. Vendors will sell their produce in a designated area at the south end of the main parking lot with the remaining parking lot available for customer parking. For the weekly Tuesday market, items requiring refrigeration or home canned goods are not permitted. Sale items are restricted to produce, baked goods, and flowers.
