~ The City of New Philadelphia Health Department has confirmed that they received national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).

The program work to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing and transforming the quality and performance of all health departments.

To receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer reviewed assessment process to ensure it meets or exceeds a set of quality standards and measures.

 

~ The Tuscarawas County Office of Ohio State University Extension announced that Rebecca Davis is the new Family and Consumer Sciences Educator. She replaced Christine Kendle, who has transitioned to the Tuscarawas County 4-H Youth Development Educator position.

Davis brings a comprehensive understanding of nutrition, health education, and agriculture. She will also assist with FCS aspects of the Tuscarawas County 4-H program.

 

~ A 12th-grade student has been named as an Academic All-Star for the Ohio Lottery’s in Partners Education program.

Ryli McConnell is a student at Indian Valley High School, and according to Coach Jennifer Simmerman, McConnell displays “exceptional dedication and continuous improvement. However, it is her remarkable demonstration of responsibility, attitude, leadership and school pride, particularly evident in her role as a basketball player, that truly distinguishes her.”

The Partners in Education program honors teachers and students statewide who are nominated for their work in the classroom.
