~ Those 18 years and older looking for a summer job can apply at District 11 of the Ohio Department of Transportation. The seasonal help is for Columbiana, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, and Tuscarawas counties and is a set schedule with weekends off. It’s a full-time schedule with work hours from 7am to 3:30pm at a compensation rate of $12/hour.

Job duties can include traffic control, driving a pickup truck to set out signs, litter pickup, cleaning garage areas, trimming around buildings, and other duties. This is outside work that requires a valid driver’s license. For full details, find the link on the ODOT District 11 Facebook page. Applicants can apply online at www.careers.ohio.gov.

~ Construction of a courtyard on Grant Street, in Dennison, has begun. The area will be 20’ deep and 24’ wide and will host the village’s LoveTusc sculpture, brick paving and benches, and a community Christmas tree. The funding is from the Downtown Dennison Improvement Fund, which was built on donations from businesses, foundations, civic groups, and individuals. They currently have $285,000 raised of their $300,000 goal.

~ The Citizens for Racial Justice and Reform of Tuscarawas County is holding “Crafty Activism” at the Dover Public Library. Residents are invited to the spring social this Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm, and paint yard signs, make a pin-pack button, or other DIY to show support for carious causes. Supplies are free, but anyone with an old yard sign can bring them to repurpose. At the event, in the community room, participant can also learn about the group and what their goal is.
