~ Golden Quaker Passes are available for new pick-up or renewal. Seniors, age 65 years and older, or disabled retirees living within the New Philadelphia School District are eligible to a free general admission pass to at-home athletic events. Those who need to renew can call the Board of Education office at 330-364-0600. Citizen wanting to obtain a new pass will need to stop by the BOE’s office and provide a driver’s license to confirm age and residence.
The district reminds those with a pass that it is not permitted for Phila/Dover and tournament events.
~ The New Philadelphia City Parks Department is partnering with the Tuscarawas County Public Library to construct a StoryWalk in the pollinator garden at the Southside Community Park. This will place an illustrated children’s book, page-by-page, along a walking route. At the pollinator garden, each page will be displayed on placards mounted on stands. The idea behind a StoryWalk is to encourage children to read, and families to enjoy the outdoors.
The project is expected to be complete by Saturday, August 19th. A dedication ceremony will occur from 2pm to 3:30pm, with a ribbon-cutting at 2:15pm.
