~ The Strasburg Police Department is hosting a food drive to help fight hunger within the village. Collections of non-perishable food items will happen, at the department’s garage, April 14th through the 19th. Drop-off will be accepted day and night, with items set outside the garage to be stored inside while officers check periodically. All donations will go to the Strasburg United Methodist Church Carpenter’s Cupboard.

~ The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County announced that they are opening an office space in the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau Building. The space will provide needed storage opportunities, as well as dedicated printing resources, regular hours of operation with a staffed front desk for drop-offs and pick-ups, and meeting/rehearsal spaces. The meeting room will be utilized for board’s Tuesday meeting, at 7:15pm, at the location at 124 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia.

~ The Tuscarawas County Health Department is accepting resumes for two part-time mosquito control technicians. Job responsibilities begin in May at a rate of $16.00 per hour. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to drive a full-size pickup truck, and basic map reading skills. There also needs to be the ability to understand the safe handling of pesticides and keep accurate records. Other preferred qualifications include college or university science/health majors or a teacher/educator or retiree with a strong science background, as well as, strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
