Dover fire crews were able to contain a nighttime blaze before it spread to neighboring structures.

Firefighters were dispatched, on Tuesday, to 806 Emerson Avenue, at 10:30pm, for the report of a structure fire.

They observed heavy smoke and fire conditions once on scene, explains Captain Michael Mosser.

“Difficult to assess the situation right away but quickly we figured out it was a detached garage in the rear of the property. It had a car in it and a lot of tools. The fire went out pretty easily. We stretched a couple of hand lines and put the fire out pretty quickly.”

Units were on scene for almost two hours and the one-story, wood-frame structure is a total loss.

“It was contained to the garage. There were a lot of cars there on two sides of the garage and there were two houses that were close exposures. The residence at 806, the siding got a little melty but not too bad.”

No injuries were reported and a cause will be listed as undetermined with Mosser adding that the damage was extensive and it was not an intentional fire.

Bolivar and New Philadelphia Fire Departments along with Smith Ambulance assisted.
