Police detained the estranged father of a Buckeye Career Center student after he allegedly sent a threatening email

This action forced that school and Strasburg-Franklin into lockdowns Monday morning.

New Philadelphia Police Capt. Rocky Dusenberry says the suspect sent an email to the student threatening to shoot up the career center.

“I got a copy of the email, located the estrange father. We then went up to where he worked and basically detained him and brought him here to be interviewed to find out if he is the one who sent the emails or not.”

Dusenberry hadn’t questioned the suspect early Monday afternoon and couldn’t comment on potential charges but said there was a protection order in place. Buckeye secured all students, staff, and visitors.
