Fire officials in Fairfield Township say an unattended candle caused a house fire Tuesday afternoon.

Fire Chief Nathan Ritenour says the candle flame spread to a wall in the master bathroom of a home in the 4000 block of Raber Road.

Crews were called to the scene around 1:15 p.m. and found smoke coming from roof vents and eaves. Ritenour says the heat was intense enough to blow out two bathroom windows.

No one was injured, but the fire caused heavy smoke damage, mainly to the master bathroom and a walk-in closet.

The chief says the family is insured. Firefighters were on scene for about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
