An update has been provided following a traffic crash that shut down US 250, near Pleasant Valley Road, Tuesday afternoon.
Ohio State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post Troopers responded at 12:20pm and once on scene, found the involved automobiles, a commercial grain hauling truck and a Hyundai Santa Fe.
Sgt. Kyle Shirer explains both were eastbound and the Hyundai was struck when attempting to make a left turn.
“As a result of the crash the fuel tank on the truck was ruptured and approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel was leaked, which triggered a response from our HAZMAT team.”
The truck driver was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance. The other driver was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
