Norma Jean Haney, age 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away in the Community Hospice Truman House on June 29, 2023, following a 2-year battle with leukemia.

Born April 5, 1942, in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Sherman W. and Wilma K. (Renicker) Cook. After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, she married the late Richard Allen Haney, who preceded her in passing on Dec. 17, 1990.

She was an avid traveler, having visited many states and countries throughout her lifetime. Norma also enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities.

Professionally, she worked for the Timken Company as an inspector prior to her retirement many years ago.

Norma leaves behind her family including her son, Jeff (Pleshette) Haney of New Philadelphia; her daughter, Cindy (Mark) Schwarm of Mineral City; companion, Ron Hines of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Joshua Haney, Renee (Scott) Mason and Marcus (Jessica) Schwarm; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ellie, Keira and Mackenzie Mason, and Evy, Helayna, and Bronson Schwarm; her sister, Barb (Dennis) Huffman of Cincinnati; and her nephew, Justin Huffman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her sister, Kay.

A private graveside service will be held in East Avenue Cemetery. A memorial visitation will take place in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m.
