As construction season remains in full swing across Ohio the Department of Transportation is emphasizing the need to watch out for workers.

District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says drivers need to pay attention, move over, and slowdown in work zones and for vehicles with flashing lights on the side of the road.

“The number of ODOT crews that have been struck this year continues to increase. In fact, it went up just last week with another hit in our district specifically, and we are at 74 hits total for the year [as of July 16th]. In 2024 we were at 84 total, so this is a harsh reminder that we need folks to pay attention. That number should be at zero. It’s completely preventable and we just need folks to do their job as drivers and pay attention.”
