The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking for drivers to pay more attention as the number of times plow truck have been struck across Ohio keeps going up.

District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says they’re now at 50 this winter, which is already more than the last two winters combined. One of those plow strikes happened on State Route 9 in Carroll County.

The trucks, she says, have been hit from all directions and it appears driver distraction is one of the top causes, along with speed.

Borell says ODOT also has safety talks with its drivers on what to be aware of on the roads.
