Gwen Rummell Reporting –
The Ohio State Highway Patrol teamed up with members of the 6-State Trooper Project to enforce and raise awareness for the Move Over Law.
The high-visibility campaign, which occurred July 16th through July 22nd, included law enforcement from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.
The law requires all drivers to move over into the opposite lane when approaching a vehicle with hazard lights parked on the roadside. If moving over is not possible, motorists should slow down and cautiously continue on.
During the initiative, Ohio troopers issued 690 citations and educated motorists about the law. Troopers from all partnering states issued a total of 1,064 citations.
