Mary Alice Reporting –
Following a two-vehicle accident, one person is dead, according to the New Philadelphia Ohio State Highway Patrol Post.
Troopers are investigating the Tuesday event that occurred around 2:40pm when a 2015 Honda Civic was southbound on Interstate 77, south of the US 250 exchange.
The Honda attempted to conduct a U-turn in the median to travel northbound, but was struck by a small SUV.
This caused the Honda to go off the right side of the road, strike a ditch, and rest in high water.
86-year-old Doris Webber, of Strasburg, was transported by New Philadelphia Fire EMS to Union Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The other driver received minor injuries.
Alcohol is not a suspected factor, and both had been wearing seatbelts.
