Mary Alice Reporting –

Board members of OneOhio Region 11 gathered at New Philadelphia Council Chambers this week to discuss how applications have been going for an opioid settlement.

Ohio reached an $808 million agreement with the three largest opioid distributors and money will be dispersed in approximately 18 cycles.

Board Chairman Kerry Metzger says applications are currently being sent to the state via the online portal registration, which opened on April 2nd.

The project portal closes on May the 3rd, so we’re a couple of weeks out from when the portal closes on those projects. After which the reviewing of the projects will start.”

Region 11 consists of Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrison, Holmes, Columbiana, Jefferson, and Belmont counties.

Metzger adds that Region 11 members will be required to go through ethics training per the state foundation and they are creating a form for conflict of interest disclosure.

The local OneOhio group already has a conflict policy in place but there were still questions surrounding this since board members are active representatives in their communities.
