Mary Alice Reporting –

An investigation has begun in a Gnadenhutten incident where an individual located a side-by-side utility vehicle and no one around.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell noted, in a release, that on Thursday, at 11:46am, a caller reported the overturned vehicle on Echo Road SE. No occupant was visible.

Sgt. Phil Valdez and Deputy Michael Fink responded as dispatch contacted local hospitals to question if anyone had come in with crash-type injuries, but they received negative responses.

On scene, a firearm was located in the utility vehicle; however, the main concern was the amount of blood, suggesting a serious injury.

Deputy Chris Edwards responded to deploy K-9 Rocky. No person was found but a backpack and other items were located a good distance from the crash. As for the gun, it was determined to be stolen from a home on River Hill Road, Port Washington.

As the investigation continues, the Sheriff asks anyone with information to contact them at 330-339-2000.
