The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post says the Thursday accident involved a Ford F150, operated by 53-year-old Gregory Sivets.
Sgt Bill Bower says Sivets was traveling on State Route 524 when his vehicle went off the side of the road and struck an embankment before crossing the road and hitting a sign and mailbox before resting in a private driveway.
“When we arrived, Mr. Sivets was deceased. The crash was very minor in nature so at this point in time we’re still doing some investigating on this.”
Bower says they were notified around 3:27pm, but investigators believe the accident happened earlier in the day.
“He actually texted a co-worker at 9:36 that he was in Dellroy heading back that way. The 3:27 was when we got a call and where he ended up, the truck ended up in a driveway at a residence that nobody is living at right now. You could have passed right by there and not even known a crash happened.”
OSP is awaiting results from the Carroll County Medical Examiner’s Office to see if this is medical related or if Sivets died from the accident.
