Spokesman Chad McKinney says the celebration begins Thursday at 5 p.m. in town with a christening ceremony, complete with a wine-bottle smashing to mark its re-entry into service.

Festivities continue Friday and Saturday at the Age of Steam Roundhouse, featuring train rides, a special photo shoot, and tours of the museum.

“The roundhouse sets you back in the golden age of railroading. You walk in there and you see the huge locomotives sitting in the roundhouse.”

Locomotive Number 19 turns 111 years old on Thursday and has appeared in films. The museum acquired the historic engine in 2017.

This ties in with America 250- Ohio event: Ohio Goes to the Movies. Residents can experience a cinematic celebration of steam history with a screening of the 1973 adventure-drama Emperor
of the North, a film prominently featuring No. 19. Admission to the screening is free, but advance registration is required for entry into the roundhouse. Space is limited.
