Supervision was the sentence for a New Philadelphia man following him breaking and entering at Tusky Valley Elementary School and the Atwood Dari Bar in April.
On Tuesday, Tyler Baker appeared for sentencing in Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court before Judge Elizabeth Thomakos.
The B&Es occurred on the same day, with the spree going into Carroll County, where those charges are still pending. Assistant Prosecutor Stacee Felix noted the seriousness of the offensive and the financial harm to the businesses.
“Offense committed on the same day causing damage at all locations. The victims suffered economic harm relative to the defendant’s crime, with restitution requested in both of those, $528.96 to Tusky valley Schools, $942.25 to the Atwood Dari Bar.”
When asked, Baker spoke briefly.
“Just, I apologizes for my actions and hopefully I can move forward with this and get it taken care of.”
The judge ultimately placed him on three years’ probation with stipulations to not consume drugs or alcohol, and to pay the restitution.
“If you fail to do so the time, you’re under supervision can be extended to a maximum of five years. You could be given more restrictive conditions to follow while under supervision or the court can revoke your supervision. The court would reserve the right to run the three breaking and entering counts consecutive to one another.”
He was also in court for not paying child support, which he was ordered to pay the over $17,000 owed.
