About 2,500 American Electric Power customers were without service for about nine hours Thursday in the Sugarcreek area.

This happened when a tree fell across a transmission line shortly before 8am.

AEP State Director of Operations Matt Bennett says worker had to repair a 32-foot long crossarm that broke when the tree fell.

AEP’s original estimate for power restoration Thursday was 9pm but they had election back on by 5pm.
