Pastor Earl Douglas Mallernee, 77, of Leesville, Ohio, was born February 14, 1946, in the family home in Freeport, Ohio. On Thursday, September 14, 2023, Pastor Doug slipped off into the presence of his savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl J. and Edna (West) Mallernee. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cheryl (Walton) Mallernee; son, Matthew (Dawn) Mallernee; daughter, Laura (James) Pike; 4 grandchildren, Dane (Allee) Mallernee, Colleen (Cortlynd) Emmons, and Zephan and Zayna Bartolet; 2 step grandchildren, Morgan Shepler and Kyle Pedersen; 3 great-grandchildren, Noah, Daniel, and Anna Grace Mallernee; 3 step great-grandchildren, Landon and Lilyana Shepler and Liam Gibbs; and sister, Anita Kay Clay. He will also be deeply missed by a multitude of brothers and sisters in Christ in his church family.

Pastor Doug served the Lord from 1980 to present day in the following churches: Little York, Deersville, Sherrodsville, New Cumberland, and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Churches, and the Leesville Faith Community Chapel and Mt. Bethel Community Chapel. Doug’s favorite pastimes and hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and spending quality time with his family and friends.

His grandson, Pastor Dane Mallernee, will officiate a 4:00 p.m. memorial service on Tuesday, September 19, at Leesville Faith Community Chapel where Pastor Doug’s family will receive callers from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to International House of Prayer (IHOP) Missions Base of Kansas City, 3535 E. Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, MO  64137.
