Patricia Ann Shamel Kerns, age 88, Quaker City, OH, passed away Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at Emerald Pointe Rehabilitation Center, Barnesville, Ohio. Patricia was born on June 15, 1934, in Uhrichsville, Ohio to Roy and Helen Shamel.
She was raised in Port Washington by her grandmother and later her Stepdad, Charles Wolfe, and Helen. Patricia married Joseph David Kerns on August 2, 1952, in Tuscarawas, Ohio. They lived around the Tuscarawas area until they moved to their dream home/family farm in Peoli. She loved spending time with her family and her extended PT Roustabout family.
She retired from Timken Roller Bearing, New Philadelphia, Ohio. She successfully ran a business, P.T. Roustabout, Inc., and was a full-time farmer at the same time. She and Joe opened their home to assist in the training and mentoring of several “adopted” young ones over the years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Kerns; and a granddaughter Shelly Jo Kerns Trees. She is survived by her 4 children: Jeff (Judy) Kerns, Atlanta, Michigan; Susan (Johnny) Yanosik, Quaker City, Ohio; Dan Kerns, Old Washington, Ohio; and Chad (Lela) Kerns, Ruskin, Florida. She is survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pat dearly loved her Golden Retriever “Cookie”. She enjoyed the company of her calico cat “Kitty-Kitty” Patricia is a Lutheran by Faith.
There will be no public viewing or calling hours. There will be a graveside service, given by Brian Roth, at the Peoli Cemetery on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 12:30 PM, open to the public.
