Patricia “Patty” L. Hitchcock Nagorski, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born in Twin City Hospital in Dennison, Ohio, on October 20, 1941, Patty was the daughter of the late Samuel B. and Evelyn V. Crider Hitchcock.
Following her graduation from the former Uhrichsville High School, Patty moved to the Columbus area, where she raised her family, and worked for various organizations, including 35 years at Nationwide Insurance. Upon her retirement, Patty returned to New Philadelphia, where she assisted her beloved brother, Sam, and others in the operation of the Park Place Teen Center and the RTY Summer Showcase at Tuscora Park.
Patty was known for her love of cooking, not only for her family but for the teens who spent time at the Teen Center. She loved boating near her home at Atwood Lake, and spending time with family and friends, particularly her granddaughters, whom she adored.
She leaves behind three children, Dave (Kim) Nagorski of Westerville, Chuck Nagorski of Groveport, and Susan (Tim) Moore of Columbus; her granddaughters, Brooke Nagorski Gorrell, and Hannah Nagorski; a great-grandson, Oliver Gorrell; her brother, Sam Hitchcock of New Philadelphia; her former husband, Howard Nagorski of Columbus; and her nieces and nephew, Michelle Yoder, Jimmy Hitchcock, Jenn Reed and Laura Barkett.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Hitchcock.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
