Paul Edward Day, 91, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his daughter’s home, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Born October 24, 1931 in Port Washington, he was the last surviving child of the late George E. and Ella Barbara (Oneacre) Day, having been preceded in death by his siblings, George, Helen, Burnett “Shorty”, Lela, and an infant sister.

After his 1949 graduation from Port Washington High School, Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He returned home to a long career with Warner and Swasey in New Philadelphia. For many years, he enjoyed going to monthly breakfast gatherings at Dee’s with his fellow retirees. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time with his buddies from the golf club, as well as reading. Most of all, he treasured the time that he spent with his family – especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life.

He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his children, Tam Day, Eric (Jackie) Day, and Tracy Glauser with whom he had resided; grandchildren, Heather Green, Heidi (Jeremy) Immel, James Day, and Joey Day; great-grandchildren, Destiny Green, Taylor Green, Haley Gump, RayLynn Meese, and Cashton Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

According to Paul’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his family will celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring his memory may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
