The bid for street paving came under city budget. Uhrichsville admin looking at grant opportunities.

During the most recent city council meeting, Mayor Jim Zucal relayed a paving update.

This was after submitting roads to the Tuscarawas County Engineer’s Office for the bid process.

“We put in for about $200,000 worth of paving. Remind you that we have a levy that generates around $240,000. We we’re very excited that the bid came in at $145,000.”

Additional paving will be planned for alleyways.

Zucal added that he has been met with Quicksall and Ohio Job and Commerce representatives and the plan is to apply for small city grants.

“The possibility is right now to get a 95/5 match for a small cities grant. My intention is to work with Ohio Jobs and Commerce and this would be a project on Third Street. We would piggy back with the bridge repair take Third Street all the way to Trenton Avenue. Make that a secondary thoroughfare.”

Zucal also noted that they are ordering ten new picnic tables for the park shelter. The plan is to upgrade the tables over the next few years and the old ones will be placed on the Government Surplus Auction site.

Other upgrades include new poles at the Veteran’s Memorial and pet stations to be placed at the park and cemetery.
