Philip E. “Phil” Neiger, 75, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in Sycamore Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Millersburg, following a period of declining health.
Born September 17, 1948, at Dover, Phil was the son of the late William Jacob and Mary Jean (Stewart) Neiger and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, Phil began a long career with Arizona Chemical at Dover where he worked as a Chemical Operator.
A man of great faith, Phil was a longtime member of the Broadway Global Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and enjoyed deer hunting and coaching his daughter’s softball teams. Most of all, Phil was a devoted family man who loved being with his daughters and grandchildren.
Phil is survived by his wife, Susan A. (Maurer) Neiger of the residence; his four daughters, Tiffany Troyer of Dover, Rachel McLandsborough of Bolivar, Denise Fitzgerald of New Philadelphia and Dawn Neiger of Dover; his sister, Linda Mathias of New Philadelphia; his brother, Craig Neiger of New Philadelphia and his three grandchildren, Ricky Fitzgerald, Makayla Troyer and Keaton Troyer.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Broadway Global Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Phil’s life will begin at 12PM with his good friend Dale Fincher officiating and military honors will be conducted by the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445.
Following the service, and in keeping with his wishes, cremation care will be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia and a private inurnment will take place in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio.
