Phyllis J. (Smyth) Stocker, 93, of Gnadenhutten died peacefully on Monday morning of November 11, 2024, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehab in Newcomerstown under the care of Ohio’s Lifecare Hospice.

Phyllis was born February 25, 1931, in Newcomerstown to the late Arlie and Margaret (Peoples) Smyth. She graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1949 and soon after married William Stocker on September 1, 1950. They were married for sixty-eight years before his death on April 18, 2019. Phyllis was a homemaker and a member of the John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church. She also volunteered her time within the community.  

Surviving are three children: Tom (Tina) Stocker, Bryan (Julie) Stocker both of Gnadenhutten, and Brynne (John) Sigg of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, daughter-in-law Marilyn Stocker of Gnadenhutten, thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Phyllis is preceded in death by her son Jeff Stocker, and brother Robert Smyth.

Following Phyllis’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gnadenhutten Public Library, John Heckewelder Moravian Church, or the Tuscarawas County Humane Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.kochfhgnaden.com.
