Mary Alice Reporting – Winter weather will persist into the Christmas weekend.

The National Weather Service issued the Wind Chill Warning for Tuscarawas and surrounding counties as gusts could reach 45 mph and wind chill temperatures reaching into the negative digits.

With the wind and snow, areas could see reduced visibility and Ohio Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says hazardous conditions will continue as crews remain active but the roads can effectively be treated due to the frigid temperatures.

“The wind is wicked so they’re getting blow and drifting snow. We truly urge folks to avoid unnecessary travel. If you can stay home today, please stay home, stay safe. Nobody is going to be traveling at the posted speed limits, it’ll be way below. A great resource for folk to use will be www.ohgo.com.”

Official asks individuals to limit outside activities but if going out, make sure to wear appropriate clothing.

As for the pets, limit their exposure as well. For outside animals, ensure shelter is available and drinking water.
