Details are being shared following the Arrowhead Joint Fire District being called to a structure fire Sunday afternoon.

The 3pm call had crews going to Unger Street, in Gnadenhutten, where they observed smoke coming from the 1,500 square foot pole building. No one was inside at the time.

While the blaze was under control within 20 minutes, firefighters encountered heavy smoke, low visibility, high heat, minor explosions, and flames in the rear of the building spreading to the attic space.

A release from Arrowhead Joint District notes that units worked for about 2 hours to extinguish hot spots and ventilated the insured building.

Smoke and heat damage is throughout the storage space with a damage estimate not provided. A cause and origin are under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was fire departments from Warwick Township, Uhrichsville, and Delaware Valley Joint District.
