Mary Alice Reporting –
Following several snow plows being hit a couple weeks into January, the Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to slow down and use caution.
The most recent crashes involving ODOT plows were in Ashland, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lucas, Paulding, and Richland counties. A 5,000-gallon salt brine tanker was hit in Allen County.
Press Secretary Matt Bruning encourages motorists to use caution in winter weather but also around flashing lights.
“Last year, there were 56 ODOT crew hits recorded. Many of these crashes could have prevented if drivers had simply moved over, slowed down, and above all paid attention.”
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Tuscarawas and surrounding counties from 1am Friday to 10am Saturday. Snow accumulation is expected, which could cause hazardous travel conditions.
If travel is required, allow plenty of extra time and plan ahead by checking out OHGO.com for incidents, slowdowns, and more information.
