Mary Alice Reporting – A Governor’s Proclamation highlighted Tuscarawas County being named as a top micropolitan area.
The statistical area is a geographical entity that has a core city with a population between 10,000 and 50,000.
Site Selection Magazine named Tuscarawas County as a Top 100 Micropolitan which highlights an area’s economic development efforts to foster growth and prosperity in the region.
A recognition was held recently with local leaders with Ohio Department of Development Chief of Community Engagement Scott Ryan attending.
“And we are so pleased to celebrate the success of New Philadelphia, Dover, and Tuscarawas County in your economic developments and I have a proclamation signed by the Governor and Lt. Governor.”
New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day noted his appreciation of the investments of residents and businesses.
“This award really we’re accepting this on behalf of our employers, our manufacturers in this county who have really put us in that top one-hundred.”
City of Dover Mayor Shane Gunnoe echoed Day’s sentiments, adding that this achievement is something the entire county should be proud of.
“It speaks to the strength of our business community and the commitment they have of growing here in Tuscarawas County. It also speaks to the partnerships that Dover and New Philadelphia are actively working to establish with our business community to help them grow and thrive here.”
Site Selection Magazine is known for its comprehensive economic development analysis and evaluation of various factors to determine the most promising micropolitan areas across the United States.
A release pointed to Tuscarawas County having a thriving hub of economic activity in agriculture, tourism, commercial, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing, boasting diverse industries that drive employment and ensure stability in the region.
