The Tuscarawas County Dog Pound reports somebody poisoned four dogs and left them to die horrible deaths in the woods near Beach City.
Facility and Adoption Specialist Beth Lewis says the dog warden, responding to a call on Friday morning, found three of the dogs already dead and a fourth barely alive and suffering. That dog was euthanized immediately.
Lewis says all signs point to the animals being poisoned by something like rat poisoning, which leads to a slow, painful death.
“It’s just horrific to think about,” she said.
Lewis says the four dogs were likely littermates and under a year old. She says they were uniquely colored, with white and brown patches and blue eyes. She hopes anybody who recognizes the description of the puppies reports the owners.
“Someone knows who had a litter of white with brown spotted pitbulls with blue eyes (likely around Christmas time) who didn’t sell them all. Someone knows who had 4 dogs 2 days ago and doesn’t have them today,” the Dog Pound posted on Facebook. “If anyone has any information regarding this, please reach out to us. The dog wardens do not have the authority to bring charges for cruelty, but they can forward information where it needs to go.”
Lewis suspects the owners are not from Tuscarawas County. She says Stark County dog owners have dumped dogs in that area before – near Kaylor Road NW and Soehnlen Road NW between Beach City and Dundee.
