A Wednesday into Thursday pursuit started in Cambridge and the suspect is still on the loose.

The initial stop by the Ohio State Highway Patrol was for a driver going 90 in a 70 mile per hour zone.

New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Nick Sutterluety says the chase continued on I-77 into Tuscarawas County.

At one point, just after midnight, a Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a stop stick deployment, but it was unsuccessful due to another vehicle going over the device seconds before the speeding vehicle.

Sgt. Sutterluety says he got involved when the suspect left the interstate at exit 81.

“We went through New Philadelphia and for a brief time we ended up in Dover and as I’m clearing intersections instead of blowing through them, he gained a little bit of distance on me, and I lost sight of him.”

The vehicle was eventually located.

“Later that day [Thursday], Dover police actually found the vehicle, and it was abandoned over by Deflecto there in Dover.”

Law enforcement is still searching for the suspected driver.
