Mary Alice Reporting –

Some graduating New Philadelphia students are set to receive scholarships.

It’s through the Quaker Foundation with a ceremony set for Friday evening at the Performing Arts Center.

Member Jan McInturf explains that the event has come a long way since 1994 with two scholarships being handed out.

“We’re going to be honoring 82 New Philadelphia grads, they’re in the process of graduating. They’re still students for another couple of weeks. They’re going to receive scholarships from the Quaker Foundation, which is really cool, and we’re giving away one-hundred and thirty-one [dollars] to 82 kids.”

He says, to date, they have given away 1,453 scholarships totaling more than $2.4 million.
