R. Mae Brooks-Walters, 96, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Park Village Southside in New Philadelphia, after a long, full life. She was born May 17, 1927, in Beelick Knob, West Virginia and was the last surviving child of the late William Edgar and Effie Mae (Moody) Coffman, having been preceded in death by her siblings, Charlotte Louise “Lou” Harris, Charles Coffman, Robert Coffman, and Blanche Gwinn-Judy.
Mae grew up in West Virginia where she was a graduate of Sandstone High School before marrying Eldon Brooks on July 16, 1945, who later preceded her in death. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to her parents, siblings, and first husband, Mae was predeceased by her second husband, Roy “Goose” Walters to whom she was married on March 22, 1986; granddaughter, Jeanette Gatchell; and son-in-law, Richard McPeck.
Mae devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
