Uhrichsville is closer to giving Claymont students a smoother ride to school after a ruling by Public Utilities Commission of Ohio opens the door for the city to remove some unused railroad tracks in the near future.
Mayor Jim Zucal says PUCO ruled in the city’s favor as it seeks an exemption for the railroad crossings at West 1st Street, Trenton Avenue and Holiday Avenue. He says the city will put up some signs and monitor those crossings. The bumpy crossings are an inconvenience and safety issue for drivers and particularly school buses.
Zucal says several steps remain, and the RJ Corman Railroad Group could appeal. However, he’s hoping they can get the tracks out by April of next year.
