A non-profit that provides support to disabled and disadvantaged Tuscarawas County residents is providing over $72,806 in assistance.

This amount is reflecting the 27 cases presented to the Rainbow Connection board for March and April, says Executive Director Perci Garner.

“We were able to get most of those approved. A lot of the requests their medical equipment or prescriptions for people who have cancer and terminal illness and the typical medical bills for people going through chemo and other things.”

The awarded amount represents $48,000 in medical and dental bill assistance, $17,000 in handicap equipment, hearing aids, and communication devices, and nearly $8,000 for prescriptions, medical supplies, and transportation assistance.

When it comes to cases, Garner notes that they look at applications on a monthly basis.

“So, we’re not waiting on the telethon to fund our clients, at least right now in this situation. We just go month by month because all the money that we raise go to all those clients that we approve the case work for.”

Rainbow Connection is able to provide assistance thanks to support during their yearly telethon. The 2025 fundraiser raised over $352,500.
