Ralph E. Scheufler, 90, of Dover, died Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek following a brief illness.
He was born in Winesburg on November 28, 1931, to the late Elden and Pearl (Weaver) Scheufler and married Joanne Matthey on April 30, 1955. She died on May 24, 2019.
Ralph, and his late brother Charles, were co-owners of Scheufler Bros. Milk Transport since 1954. He retired from transporting milk on December 31, 2021, when his health forced him into retirement.
He was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church in Sugarcreek.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Dave) Leishman of Dover; two grandsons, Wesley Hershberger and Jeffrey (Kearsten) Hershberger; great-granddaughter, Winrey Grace Hershberger; four step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dane, Alex, and Jessica Leishman; and his three sisters, Dorothy Purdy of Killbuck, Gladys Johnson of Canton, and Alice (John) Kaiser of Danville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Lucille Scheufler; brother, Charles (Virginia) Scheufler; and step-granddaughter Emma Leishman.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Rev. Jeff Calkins officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
