Raymond Alva Green 86, of West Lafayette, Ohio went to be with his heavenly Father, on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
He was born February 26, 1936, in Coshocton County, Ohio, to the late Roy and Bertha (Cognion) Green.
Ray loved spending time with family and was a devoted husband to his late wife, Grace (Bonnie) Couts Green until her passing in 2008. He was the retired owner of Greens Tree Service. Throughout his many years of doing tree work, locals were often amazed to see him up in some of the tallest trees. He made it look easy to lay some of the biggest trees, often between houses without incident to himself or his property.
If you knew Ray, you were sure to know his love for country music, fried chicken, berry pie, and old cars. He loved taking car rides and most recently enjoyed a special “birthday ride” in Ed’s 49 Chevy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Green; son, Michael Green; brothers, Roy Jr, Paul, and Charles; as well as a sister, Mary Ellen (Snell)
He is survived by a son, Gary (Sandy) Green of West Lafayette; daughter, Vickie Green of Nelsonville; brother, Bill (Kathy) Green of Newcomerstown; sisters, Pauline (Gary) Russell, Jody Groff of Newcomerstown, Emma Mullet of Fresno, Edna Patterson of West Lafayette, Rosemary (Rose bud) Jim Able of Dover; granddaughters, Brittany (Aaron) Hobart and Tiffany (Greg) Crabtree of Mount Vernon, Heather Green of West Lafayette, Brehanna (Gabe) Plant of Coshocton; grandsons, Jamie Green of West Lafayette and Josh Green of South Carolina; great-granddaughters, Alexis (Gage) Smith and Aleah Hull of Mount Vernon; great-grandson, Mayson Hobart of Mount Vernon; as well as a recent great-great-grandson, Liam Smith also of Mount Vernon.
Ray will be laid to rest at the Peoples Methodist Episcopal Cemetery of Newcomerstown, Ohio and there will be no public service at this time.
A special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio and Fosterbridge of Coshocton; Nurse Erin, aide Mary, and Chaplin Daniel, you all made such a great impact in such a short time. Ray was blessed to have known each of you.
