Race registration can now be completed for the annual family-friendly Turkey Trot.
This is the 55th year for the 5K race held on Thanksgiving and serves as a fundraiser for the the Tuscarawas County YMCA.
Race Director Ryan Hursey says it’s a roughly 3-mile course.
“It’s a walk and run and in the past few years we’ve had people bring their dogs to run, strollers, so it’s just a nice family-friendly event.”
Registration, at www.runsignup.com, prior to race day is $20 for youth 15 and under, and $30 for those older, until October 31st. The amount will increase to $35 November 1st to the 21st, and then up to $40 through November 25th, and day of registration is $45.
All proceeds provide direct financial support for the Y’s annual campaign.
“For people in our community, so we help children to be able to attend our day camp, or swim lessons, or sometimes an adult who is not totally able to fully afford a membership, so we’re trying to make it available so everybody has access.”
The 5k starts at 9am and will take participants on city streets, which will be manned by police and volunteers. Registration can be completed at www.runsignup.com.
