A man hoping to rent a house is out of an undisclosed amount of money after falling victim to a Facebook scam.
He had responded to a post listing an E. Slingluff Avenue home for rent and sent money over the internet to the person in Wisconsin.
The property is listed for sale, but the scammer hacked the realtor’s social media post.
The scam was discovered after the man placed items outside the home and the owners arrived back. Police were called and the situation was resolved, with an explanation on how to report the fraud to his bank. The post has since been deleted.
