Rev. Marion Eugene “Gene” Keplinger, age 83, of rural Scio, Ohio, went peacefully to be Home with The Lord Monday morning, October 2, 2023, in his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born March 8, 1940, in Canton, Ohio and was the son of the late James Elmer and Helen Lucille (Amos) Keplinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Reed and Barbara Keplinger a brother, Daryl Keplinger, and his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Eugene and Linda Keplinger.

Marion proudly served his country from 1959-1962 as a member of the United States Air Force.  He received his Doctor of Theology from the Salt Lake Baptist College. He faithfully served as pastor to numerous congregations throughout California and Ohio. He, along with his wife Nancy were currently worshipping as members of the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern.  

He is survived by his wife Nancy Eleanor (Burnsworth) Keplinger, whom he married December 1, 1962, two sons, Rev. Timothy (Joanne) Keplinger of Troy, Montana and David (Brenda) Keplinger of New Philadelphia, OH a daughter, Angela Keplinger of Scio, OH and 12 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in the Sherrodsville Wesleyan Church with his son Rev. Tim Keplinger officiating.  Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery where Rev. Steven Gilreath will officiate the committal service.
