Rev. Paul Gerycz, 86, of Newcomerstown, went home to be with Jesus on February 1, 2023, surrounded by his family at Truman House, New Philadelphia.He was born September 14, 1936, in Colver, PA to the late Joseph and Mary (Hovraluck) Gerycz. Paul was the son of a Ukrainian Immigrant. Paul was employed at the age of 18 at the Ford Motor Plant in Walton Hills, OH, working for 31 years there before retiring and entering the Methodist Ministry. He served the Lord faithfully for 38 years as a Methodist pastor.
Paul is survived by his wife Dolores (Burket) Gerycz, whom he has been married to for 65 years after being wed on January 25, 1958. He is also survived by his three children, Jennifer Lynn (Tony) Gorick of Lancaster, PA, Paul James (Sally) Gerycz of Olmsted Falls, and Janet Lynn Smith of Newcomerstown; his grandchildren, Christine, Melissa (Kris) (and their children, Brayden and Jacob), Tony, Allison (Zachary), Emily (Jayson), Tyler, Raegan, and Jaxon; and his brother, Michael Gerycz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Gerycz, Jr. and his sister, Nancy Thomas.
Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown with Pastor Dan Eggan and Rev. Allison Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, and on Monday from 9 to 11 am prior to the service.
